Water Valley was founded in 1858. In the early days, good, plentiful water was the main attraction – it brought the railroads, and for a brief glorious time we were the largest city in Northern, Mississippi. We still have great water, but the railroads pulled out in the 1920s.
Maybe that was the best thing that happened to us. Today Water Valley is a family friendly community with a relaxed, fun loving, and gracious way of life – yet we’re only 20 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Oxford and Ole Miss.
Drive through our neighborhoods, pas ancient oaks and elms and magnolias, and get a sense ofwhat life is like here today – and why those of us who live in Water Valley wouldn’t have it any other way.
This driving tour, beginning and ending at the Casey Jones Railroad Museum on Main Street, should take you about 35 minutes. Download the Tour.

Your Water Valley Driving the Valley Tour page Is Very Nice but it’s very blurry and hard to reaqd when I print it out. Do you have a clear copy I can prnt out to take with me when I drive the tour?
Unfortunately, the map is large and difficult to print from a home computer. But fear not, hard copies are available for free at the Water Valley Main Street Association office and a variety of businesses around town. Enjoy the tour.
